Katherine Gallegos Elementary School recently celebrated its newest "Students of the Month," recognizing a group of outstanding 5th graders for their exemplary display of respect. The award highlights young students who consistently show kindness, good manners, and consideration for their teachers and classmates.
Second Grade

Second graders at Katherine Gallegos Elementary recently experienced a unique and engaging history lesson by participating in their own version of the Greek Olympics.
To truly step back in time, the students were appropriately dressed, donning Greek togas and sporting leaf crowns. The day was filled with various athletic events that mirrored the ancient competitions, but with fun, safe, and age-appropriate modifications. For instance, the formidable "javelin" throw was adapted using foam, allowing the young Olympians to safely test their strength and accuracy. This hands-on, immersive event not only brought the curriculum on Ancient Greece to life but also provided a memorable day of physical activity and collaborative learning for the entire second-grade class.
