Michael Johnson -
Principal

It is with great excitement and a deep sense of honor that I introduce myself as the principal of Katherine Gallegos Elementary School. My name is Michael Johnson, and I am thrilled to join a school community that is known for its dedication to student achievement, supportive families, and a strong spirit of collaboration.

Education has been both my passion and profession for 26 years, and I bring with me a commitment to creating a learning environment where every child feels seen, heard, and empowered to succeed. I believe in building strong relationships with students, staff, and families—and working together to continue the tradition of excellence at Katherine Gallegos.

Joining me in this journey is my incredible wife, Candace Johnson, who is also an educator of 32 years and has dedicated her career to supporting the success of all students. She is a former teacher at Valencia Elementary and excited to be back in Los Lunas as the counselor at Raymond A. Gabaldon, We come to you as a blended family with three amazing children: Shana, Shanelle, and Gairen, and we are absolutely delighted to share the joy of our two grandchildren, Cohen and Ferris. As a family, we value education, community, and connection—values that align perfectly with the heart of this school.

I am eager to get to know each of you and to support our students as they grow, learn, and thrive. My door is always open, and I welcome your ideas, feedback, and partnership as we begin this new chapter together.

Assistant Principal

Regina Sedillos - Assistant Principal

With 17 years of educational experience, including 7 years in administration, I am passionate about fostering a culture of success, community, and collaboration.

I earned my Associate’s Degree in AutoCAD from the University of New Mexico and continued my education there, obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. My journey in education began in the classroom at Belen Middle School, where I taught 7th and 8th-grade math and algebra. I then expanded my expertise by joining Los Lunas Middle School, teaching 7th-grade math and science. From there, I transitioned into leadership roles, serving as an assistant principal at Raymond Gabaldon Elementary and Los Lunas Middle School, as well as an instructional coach. Today, I am proud to serve as the assistant principal of Katherine Gallegos Elementary.

I am deeply committed to supporting students, staff, and parents while building a strong and inclusive community. My dedication is rooted in the belief that every child can succeed with the right guidance, encouragement, and environment.

Beyond my career, family is my greatest blessing. I am proud mother to three wonderful children and a GiGi to two beautiful grandsons. My faith plays a central role in my life, and it inspires my commitment to serve others with care and integrity.
